The inaugural Ottawa Race Weekend “Youth Athletic Series” was staged in 2008, to create competition for male and female runners 19 years and younger at several races throughout the year.
Points were awarded for placing in the top five spots in the 19 years and under age group at selected local events with the top male and female runners each earning a $1000 scholarship from the Ottawa Race Weekend. The next four top finishers at the end of the series will receive merchandise prizes. The following races made up the 2008 Series:

The Ottawa Race Weekend Nordion 5 and 10K Races
ArmyRun 5K
Jim Howe Cross Country 5K
Bushtukah Canada Day 5K
Athletics Canada Trans Canada 5K
Rattle Me Bones “Jigglebone 5K”
The Cookie Run 5k
